Comparison of a quantum error-correction threshold for exact and approximate errors

Classical simulations of noisy stabilizer circuits are often used to estimate the threshold of a quantum errorcorrecting code. Physical noise sources are efficiently approximated by random insertions of Pauli operators. For a single qubit, more accurate approximations that still allow for efficient simulation can be obtained by including Clifford operators and Pauli operators conditional on mea...

Boundary Shear Stress in a Trapezoidal Channel

This paper focuses on a hydraulic radius separation approach used to calculate the boundary shear stress in terms of bed and wall shear stress proposed in a trapezoidal channel. The average bed and sidewall shear stress in smooth trapezoidal open channels are derived after using Guo & Julien (2005) early equations taking a part of an investigation to cover both rectangular and trapezoidal chann...

The robustness of magic state distillation against errors in Clifford gates

Quantum error correction and fault-tolerance have provided the possibility for large scale quantum computations without a detrimental loss of quantum information. A very natural class of gates for fault-tolerant quantum computation is the Clifford gate set and as such their usefulness for universal quantum computation is of great interest. Clifford group gates augmented by magic state preparati...

Beyond stabilizer codes II: Clifford codes

Knill introduced a generalization of stabilizer codes, in this note called Clifford codes. It remained unclear whether or not Clifford codes can be superior to stabilizer codes. We show that Clifford codes are stabilizer codes provided that the abstract error group has an abelian index group. In particular, if the errors are modelled by tensor products of Pauli matrices, then the associated Cli...

Pauli exchange errors in quantum computation

In many physically realistic models of quantum computation, Pauli exchange interactions cause a subset of 2-qubit errors to occur as a first-order effect of couplings within the computer, even in the absence of interactions with the computer's environment. We give an explicit 9-qubit code that corrects both Pauli exchange errors and all 1-qubit errors.
